Tobacco Education & Prevention Coalition for Porter County

The Tobacco Education & Prevention Coalition for Porter County (TEPC) is a community-based coalition comprised of a network of diverse partners dedicated to saving lives and improving the quality of life of citizens by reducing tobacco use and eliminating health disparities related to tobacco use by protecting residents from secondhand smoke; preventing and reducing youth tobacco use and access to tobacco products; and improving and promoting cessation services to assist smokers in quitting. Our mission is to promote tobacco control initiatives for the purpose of preventing and reducing tobacco use by our citizens through education. We welcome residents and organization representatives to meet with us monthly and engage in education, prevention, cessation, and policy efforts. We partner with and offer training and programs for Porter County healthcare providers, school systems, worksites, non-profit agencies, as well as the local health department. TEPC is one of 42 counties throughout Indiana that is funded through a grant from the Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Commission. TEPC is affiliated with the Valparaiso College of Nursing and Health Professions who serves as the lead agency for the grant.
